89 dB / Xmax ±4,5 mm – usable from 32 Hz to 2 kHz, level-stable for 2-way and 3-way

The frequency response of the Orchestra 7-612 demonstrates the performance of a 7-inch mid-bass driver with high linear travel and a warm sound character: a smooth, controlled amplitude curve from approximately 32 Hz to 2 kHz – with an efficiency rating of 89 dB and a stable level structure across the entire operating range. The electrical Xmax of ±4.5 mm is reflected in the frequency response: Even at high sound pressure levels and low frequencies, the amplitude curve remains linear and low-distortion – the driver operates far below its mechanical limits. The ribbed paper cone (RP) with an effective radiation area of 137 cm² controls parasitic vibrations in the upper operating range and stabilizes excursion behavior.

Particularly relevant for DIY enthusiasts: The usable operating range up to approximately 2 kHz makes the Orchestra 7-612 the ideal driver for 2-Wege-Systeme with a crossover frequency around 1.5–2 kHz – paired directly with a tweeter, using bass reflex enclosures from approximately 20–40 liters.

In the 3-Wege-System it operates as a mid-bass driver between a woofer (crossover starting at approximately 100–200 Hz) and a tweeter (crossover at 1.5–2 kHz). The onset of 7-inch beamforming above approximately 2 kHz should be taken into account when selecting the crossover frequency. The Qts of 0.30 makes the driver a dedicated bass reflex specialist – enclosure design is precise and predictable.

The smooth frequency response without dips or peaks in the operating range confirms the quality of the paper RP cone and the powerful drive system (BL = 8.6 Tm, 1.00 T). A 7-inch driver that sounds exactly as it measures – warm, level-stable, precise. Made in Germany, from the ETON factory.

Qts 0.30 / fs 37 Hz / Xmax ±4.5 mm – level-stable low-midrange driver for bass reflex enclosures

The impedance curve of the Orchestra 7-612 shows the performance of a 7" mid-bass driver with high linear travel and powerful motor: The impedance maximum is at approximately 37 Hz (TSP). The Qts value of 0.30 clearly positions this driver for bass reflex designs – in a sealed enclosure, bass extension would be limited by the low Qts. The equivalent volume of 28 dm³ enables bass reflex enclosures from approximately 20–40 Liters with tuning around 30–40 Hz. The electrical Xmax of ±4.5 mm is the highest of all Orchestra mid-bass drivers and confirms the 7-612's design for high-level, low-distortion bass reproduction: The force factor BL = 8.6 Tm remains constant across the entire linear travel range.

Above resonance, the driver exhibits stable electrical behavior: The impedance rises moderately toward higher frequencies due to the voice coil inductance (Le = 0.81 mH) – a value expected for a 7" driver with a 32-mm copper voice coil on a Kapton former. The single-layer voice coil winding results in a low moving mass (Mmd = 17.3 g, which enables agile, transient-accurate bass reproduction. The 8-ohm design allows trouble-free operation with standard HiFi amplifiers.

The cleanly defined impedance maximum without parasitic resonances confirms the mechanical precision of the overhung motor system and the quality of the suspension. This 7" driver behaves identically in enclosure calculations as it does in simulation – reproducible, reliable, Made in Germany.
