88 dB / Hexacone diaphragm + phase plug / fs 71 Hz – usable from 71 Hz to 3–4 kHz, 50 W

The frequency response of the Symphony II 4-312 shows the behavior of a top-class 4" midwoofer driver with patented Hexacone diaphragm in multilayer construction and phase plug: a uniform, controlled amplitude response from approx. 71 Hz to 3–4 kHz – with 88 dB efficiency and a stable level structure across the entire transmission range. The Hexacone diaphragm ensures a linear frequency response: the honeycomb structure adopted from aerospace technology in multilayer construction remains electrically dimensionally stable even at high excursions up to Xmax ±2.0 mm – without partial oscillations and peaks in the upper transmission range. The result is a frequency response that is just as linear at 50 W as it is at 1 W.

The open-design phase plug is the decisive factor for the controlled frequency response in the upper transmission range: it ensures uniform sound radiation across the entire diaphragm surface and low-directivity radiation behavior up to approx. 3–4 kHz. The result is a frequency response without the peaks and dips that can occur in the upper midrange with drivers without a phase plug. For the DIY developer and the loudspeaker manufacturer, this means: the crossover frequency to the tweeter can be selected at approx. 2–4 kHz – in an acoustically uncritical range in which both drivers operate optimally and enable phase-optimized, seamless integration.

The uniform frequency response without dips or peaks in the transmission range demonstrates the superior quality of the Hexacone diaphragm and the drive system (BL = 5.8 Tm, ferrite 1.15 T, Le = 0.38 mH). A 4" midwoofer driver with Hexacone diaphragm and phase plug that sounds the way it measures – precise, linear, with real aerospace technology inside. Made in Germany, from the ETON manufactory.

Qts 0.39 / fs 71 Hz / BL 5.8 Tm – Hexacone membrane + phase plug, 50 W, BR & sealed

The impedance curve of the Symphony II 4-312 shows the behavior of a top-class 4" midwoofer driver with patented multi-layer Hexacone membrane and phase plug: The impedance maximum is at approx. 71 Hz (TSP) – the tuning basis for use as a midwoofer driver in compact 2-way and 3-way systems. The Qts value of 0.39 and the equivalent volume of 3.7 dm³ allow flexible enclosure design – for both bass reflex enclosures and sealed enclosures from approx. 3–8 liters. The force factor BL = 5.8 Tm with a moving mass of only 5.8 g ensures a precise, agile drive with lightning-fast impulse response across the entire frequency range up to approx. 3–4 kHz.

The open-design phase plug actively optimizes the dispersion behavior in the upper midrange: It ensures uniform sound radiation across the entire membrane surface, improves air circulation in the pole piece area, and reduces thermal compression during long-term operation. The result is controlled, low-beaming dispersion behavior up to approx. 3–4 kHz, enabling phase-optimized, seamless integration with the tweeter. The impedance curve reflects this quality: The cleanly defined maximum without secondary resonances demonstrates the mechanical precision of the overhang drive system and the dimensional stability of the Hexacone membrane even at high excursions up to Xmax ±2.0 mm electrical / ±5.5 mm mechanical.

The 8-ohm design allows easy driving with common hi-fi amplifiers. The ferrite magnet with 1.15 T and Le = 0.38 mH ensure a stable, predictable load – simple crossover design without elaborate impedance correction. A 4" midwoofer driver with Hexacone membrane and phase plug that behaves in enclosure calculation exactly as it does in simulation – precise, predictable, Made in Germany.
