The Hexacone diaphragm with Sd = 222 cm² and the CCAW voice coil (copper-aluminum composite, Mmd = 25.0 g) together ensure a frequency response that is just as linear at 80 W as it is at 1 W – even at the extreme excursions up to Xmax ±5.5 mm electrical / ±14.2 mm mechanical, which a long-throw woofer physically produces at low frequencies below 30 Hz. The lightweight CCAW voice coil with Mmd = 25.0 g is the key to an agile, impulse-accurate frequency response despite the large excursion.

Particularly relevant for DIY loudspeaker developers and loudspeaker manufacturers: the usable transmission range from approx. 27 Hz to approx. 300 Hz makes the Symphony II 8-512 a pure bass and subwoofer driver for 3-Wege-Systeme – crossover to the midrange driver at approx. 100–300 Hz, in bass-reflex enclosures from approx. 80–150 liters with tuning around 18–27 Hz for deep extension into the infrasonic range below 20 Hz. The Qts of 0.40 and the Vas of 102.0 dm³ – the largest of the entire Symphony II line – are the decisive parameters: optimal bass-reflex tuning for maximum deep extension and maximum linear excursion in the chosen enclosure volume.

As a dedicated Subwoofer-Treiber in active systems with electronic crossover, the Symphony II 8-512 unfolds its full potential – fs 27 Hz as the lowest rolloff point of the line, Xmax ±5.5 mm for level stability even below 25 Hz.

The uniform frequency response without dips or peaks in the transmission range demonstrates the superior quality of the Hexacone diaphragm and the drive system (BL = 7.8 Tm, ferrite 1.00 T, Le = 0.72 mH, Sd = 222 cm²). The Hexacone diaphragm in multilayer construction and the CCAW voice coil (copper-aluminum composite, 32 mm, Mmd = 25.0 g) are the key acoustic technologies of the Symphony II 8-512: The Hexacone diaphragm provides exceptional flexural rigidity – even at extreme excursions up to Xmax ±14.2 mm mechanical, it remains dimensionally stable without partial vibrations and distortion under load. The CCAW voice coil, with a total moving mass of 25.0 g, is the lightest of the 8" long-throw models – the result is a particularly agile, impulse-accurate drive despite the large excursion. The cleanly defined impedance maximum without secondary resonances at 27 Hz demonstrates the mechanical precision of the overhung drive system and manufacturing quality at reference level.

The 8-ohm design allows easy driving with common HiFi amplifiers and subwoofer power amps. The moderate impedance rise due to Le = 0.72 mH lies well above the typical crossover frequency of 100–300 Hz and does not complicate crossover design.
